Miscommunication between stylist and client is a common obstacle to perfectly dyed hair. As a stylist, I spend a lot of time consulting with my clients before performing a color service. This is one of the most important parts of the service. If the client has inspiration photos, we discuss what exactly they like about that photo and I set realistic expectations for that appointment. It's important to know how to communicate with your stylist so you're on the same page before the service begins. To help with that communication, here are 25 hair color terms that all today's stylists want you to know.

You sit in your hairdresser's chair and are excited about your dream hair. You'll be prepared with a photo of exactly what you want and ready for your stylist to execute your vision. Your hairdresser starts telling you what they're going to do and it sounds completely strange, but you assume you're both on the same page, and the service begins. Then there's the moment you weren't prepared for: the end result isn't what you hoped for. It all comes down to communication. That photo may speak to you differently than what your hairdresser technically shows. It's important to be able to communicate what it is about the photo you like or what you like and don't like about your current hair color.

These 25 terms will not only help you communicate your wishes to your hairdresser, but also help you understand what he/she is communicating to you, what his/her ideas are and what the plan is.
