Since Windows 7, you’ve probably noticed that several icons are missing from your desktop, especially if you upgraded from an older version of Windows such as Windows XP. One of the shortcuts you may be missing is the one for My Computer, which allows you to quickly open Windows Explorer to view all of your system’s hard drives and the folders where you’ll find your files, programs, and other resources.

Fortunately, the icon isn't gone forever. In fact, it should only take 30 seconds or so to get it back on your desktop.
