Apple has announced that it is currently working with eight different US states to offer residents the ability to store their IDs in their Apple Wallets.

This new option for Apple Watch users is intended to make it easier to pass through Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints at participating airports. According to Apple's announcement, airports participating in the program will have specific checkpoints and lanes reserved to accept IDs via Apple Wallet.

When available, you can add your State ID to your Apple Wallet in a similar way to adding a credit card. You’ll need to scan your ID, take a selfie, and perform a series of facial and head movements for added security.

Once the ID has been verified by the issuing state, you can use it at participating TSA checkpoints by tapping your iPhone or Apple Watch against the ID reader. When prompted, simply authorize access via Face or Touch ID to release the information.
