Acer's glasses-free SpatialLabs TrueGame 3D technology gets a major boost and a number of new features.

Gordon thinks glasses-free 3D gaming has finally arrived

The new 3D Ultra mode brings improved stereoscopic rendering for greater depth and lifelike geometry during use, according to an email sent to Lifewire. The end result? A more believable and immersive 3D gaming experience on a SpatialLabs glasses-free display.

It works by combining multiple technologies at once, such as camera-based eye tracking, stereoscopic imaging and real-time scene rendering. The new mode also enables glasses-free 3D with just the press of a button. The eye tracking and real-time rendering give this modern technology an edge over older stereoscopic 3D devices such as Nintendo's 3DS handheld console.

The technology was originally announced in January, but the software update also brings new features such as 3D Sense. This is essentially a collection of customization configurations to suit different player preferences. With 3D Sense, players can automatically make macro adjustments to the system regarding visual details, effects and 3D intensity.
