Airbnb wants to make planning future trips a little easier, or at least give you a way to lessen the shock of a price drop when you get the bill.

3 Problems of Owning an AirBnB No One Talks About!

Whether it’s due to feedback or a realization that it’s prioritizing hosts, Airbnb has decided it’s time to throw renters a proverbial bone by making search options (slightly) more financially friendly. CEO Brian Chesky revealed the company’s plans on Twitter today, saying, “I heard you loud and clear: you think pricing isn’t transparent and checkout tasks are a pain.”

Perhaps the most significant change coming is an option to view a listing’s subtotal (i.e., its cost before taxes) when you view the listing before you book. Search results will also be sorted by total price, rather than per night, and will include a full list of Airbnb’s discounts, fees, and taxes.

The downside is that (at least for now) the expected total amount option has to be manually enabled and you won't see the full cost after tax until you go to confirm and pay.
