Almost 12 years after the release of Son of Sardaar, the makers are planning a sequel titled Son of Sardaar 2. The first installment had Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles and the sequel was initially supposed to bring the iconic duo back together. However, recent reports have confirmed that Sanjay Dutt will not be a part of the sequel due to unforeseen circumstances.

Recently, lead actor Ajay Devgn took to social media to share glimpses that hinted at the commencement of the shooting for Son of Sardaar 2. Reportedly, the cast and crew are planning to shoot in the UK. However, Sanjay Dutt’s UK visa applications have been consistently rejected since his arrest in 1993, leading to significant changes in casting.
A source revealed, "Since his arrest in 1993, while Sanju was travelling to the US, he had applied for a UK visa multiple times but was never granted one. The shooting of Son of Sardaar 2 would have been his first trip to the UK. After Ajay's team came to know that the senior actor's visa request had been rejected, they replaced him with Ravi Kishan."
