The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will file a complaint against suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo for violating the Omnibus Electoral Law.

The COMELEC on Monday (August 5) issued an order directing its Legal Division “to file a motu propio complaint and conduct a preliminary investigation against Mayor Alice Leal Guo/Guo, Huang Ping y Lin for material misrepresentation in violation of Section 74 relating to Section 262 of the Omnibus Election Code.”
The polling station acted on the recommendation of the legal department, based on a fact-finding investigation into Guo.
“After a thorough review of the documents, this department has found sufficient factual basis to proceed with a preliminary investigation by filing a motu propio complaint against Mayor Alice Leal Guo/Guo, Hua Ping for material misrepresentation in violation of Article 74 with respect to Article 262 of the Omnibus Election Code,” the Justice Department report said.
