There were only 37 Cookies at launch, though the list has since expanded to over 100. You'll need to play a lot before you can unlock the more powerful Cookies, but even when you do, it can be tough to choose which crumbly characters you want on your team.

Ambush Cookies are great at dealing high damage and using special abilities that make them briefly invulnerable. Think of them as the villains of your team.
