A new partnership between AMD and ECARX has paved the way for the two companies to create a more advanced, digital in-vehicle cockpit for the next generation of electric vehicles (EVs).

Potential Windows bug found, hurting Ryzen gaming performance

AMD may be best known for its home computer components, but its processors and GPUs can be found in much more than just laptops, smartphones, and gaming consoles. On-board computers have been a part of most modern cars for a while now, including electric vehicles (EVs). But AMD and ECARX plan to further develop EV computing platforms.

This new in-vehicle “digital cockpit” will be the first to utilize Ryzen Embedded V2000 processors, paired with Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs. Combined with hardware and software from ECARX, EV drivers are expected to experience improved computing performance and better graphics and rendering capabilities.

Which all adds up to more advanced (and faster) driver information displays, better voice recognition throughout the EV cockpit, and more luxurious rear-seat entertainment options. “High-end gaming” is also being touted for the next iteration of the in-vehicle computing system, though specs (and library availability) haven’t yet been shared.
