Apple has quietly extended a repair program for AirPods Pro, addressing issues with active noise cancellation (ANC) and crackling sounds.

Apple Won’t Repair AirPods. Here’s Why.

Reddit was the first to report the changes to Apple's support page for its AirPods repair program, which was recently updated to offer three years of support for AirPods with cracking issues.

According to the updated support page, units affected by the issue were manufactured before October 2020 and may exhibit one of the following issues. Issues include crackling or static noises that increase in loud environments, when exercising, or when making phone calls, and Active Noise Cancellation kicking in intermittently, causing bass loss or increased background noise.

The program initially launched a year after the AirPods Pro were released, around the same time that the warranty on AirPods Pro purchased at launch was set to expire. The new program now extends coverage to three years from the original purchase date, meaning users who purchased their AirPods Pro at launch are covered until 2022.
