Losing stuff sucks. That’s why AirTags were invented in the first place. But what if you can’t even hear the AirTag alarm?

Apple is addressing this problem in a big way by pushing some new features into AirTags via a firmware update, as announced on an official support page for the company. The solution? AirTag notifications are now noticeably louder, making it easier to find the object it’s attached to.

The company announced the feature back in February, after reports emerged of malicious users using the accessories to stalk people.

Making the alert louder would not only help users easily find missing objects, but would also render AirTags useless as a stalking tool, since a potential stalking victim would likely hear the alert. Apple also said in February that it would add a warning when setting up these devices regarding the legal ramifications of stalking.
