According to Apple, the new Maps experience will initially be available only to users in London, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, with more cities to follow.
The update brings a new way for users to navigate, with a highly detailed 3D map that displays a wealth of information about the local area. This includes elevation details, road labels, commercial districts, and specially designed landmarks, such as Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Public transport passengers will also enjoy the app’s new features. Nearby stations will be displayed at the top of the screen, allowing passengers to pin their preferred route. Apple Maps will also provide real-time information on disruptions, public transport schedules, departure and arrival times, and the location of the bus or train.
