The new chips, comprising the M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max, will power a new set of MacBook Pro laptops. A new color has also been added to the lineup, for MacBook Pros with the Pro and Max chips inside: Space Black.

Apple is also putting the M3 in its popular 24-inch iMac. This version remains colorful, but is now up to two times faster than the previous iMac with M1, according to the company.

Topping the list of announcements during Apple's Scary Fast event was a trio of new Apple silicon chips. Apple claims the M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max are "the industry's first 3-nanometer chips for a personal computer… delivering dramatically improved performance and unlocking new capabilities for Mac."
