Apple's switch to USB-C for the iPhone 15 series opens up interesting new possibilities for charging.

Apple's USB-C trick: The iPhone 15 Pro's hidden cable controversy?

The company is reportedly working on a new version of its MagSafe battery pack that will allow users to stack multiple packs on top of each other in a "daisy chain" configuration. A single battery pack can charge two iPhones simultaneously, with one on each side of the pack.

“Some devices, like the new iPhone 15, allow for charging an external device over a USB-C connection,” Sukaina Yacoob, an engineer at Batteries Plus, told Lifewire in an email interview. “Users can use their larger devices, like phones and laptops, as power banks and can charge smaller accessories without having to plug them into an outlet.”

Apple has ditched the Lightning charging port in its move to USB-C for its latest iPhones, along with the newest version of its AirPods Pro. Despite having ported its iPads and MacBooks to USB-C charging in the past, Apple has so far been hesitant to make the change to iPhone.
