Arcane is coming to an end, as Riot Games confirmed today that the second season of the hit League of Legends series will be its last. The early end to Jinx and Vi's story doesn't mean Runeterra is going anywhere, however, with more TV and film projects already in the works.

Arcane: Season 2 | Official Teaser | Netflix

This isn’t a shock cancellation by Netflix, though that’s been the streaming giant’s modus operandi of late. Instead, it’s a natural conclusion to the story of sisters Jinx and Vi and their pivotal roles in the brewing war between the sister cities Piltover and Zaun. Riot’s Arcane teams and Parisian animation studio Fortiche set out with a “specific ending in mind,” which they’ve now achieved in the show’s second season.

As this award-winning chapter closes, the stories in Runeterra are just beginning; Riot confirmed today that Arcane is “the first of many stories to be told” in the wider League universe, with multiple projects already underway, some focused on television and streaming, and others planned for the big screen.

Riot, Fortiche and others involved in the creative process haven't yet revealed any plans for television or film, but Dot Esports expects we'll hear more about these expanding projects before the end of the year.
