According to an official website, Witt made it to the parking lot of the venue but never entered the building. Based on evidence found in the parking lot, investigators believed that someone had abducted Witt.

As a result, police launched an investigation and began a search. More than a month after her disappearance, two hunters found Witt’s nude body in the Ozark National Forest.
