Bang & Olufsen's new Beoplay EQ wireless noise-cancelling earbuds look set to rival Apple's AirPods Pro, albeit at a higher price.

Bang & Olufsen BEOPLAY EQ – Are They Really Worth $400?

The newly unveiled earbuds pack some impressive, high-end features that, in most cases, outperform the AirPods Pro. The downside is that the Beoplay EQs also cost nearly twice as much as Apple’s more expensive wireless earbuds, as well as B&O’s own E8 third-generation models.

Both the Beoplay EQ and AirPods offer active noise cancellation (ANC) and are similarly rated for dust and water resistance. However, the Beoplay EQ earbuds offer slightly more advanced Bluetooth connectivity (5.2 compared to the AirPods’ 5.0) and their batteries last up to two hours longer with ANC turned on. It’s worth noting that the AirPods Pro can last up to 24 hours if you include the charging case, while the Beoplay EQs last around 20 hours with the charging case cap attached.

The Beoplay EQs are also slightly smaller than AirPods Pro, with the earbuds measuring 24 x 22 x 27 millimeters, compared to Apple’s 22 x 31 x 24 millimeters. The charging case for the Beoplay EQ earbuds is slightly larger, however, measuring 77 x 40 x 26, compared to the AirPods Pro’s 61 x 45 x 22 (also measured in mm). The Beoplay EQ earbuds are also around three grams heavier than AirPods Pro (8g versus 5.4g). Though the size and weight differences aren’t so great that they’d make a significant difference in terms of comfort or wearability.
