Beau DeMayo vs Disney Marvel Round 1

The war of words between X-Men '97 creator Beau DeMayo and Marvel has escalated beyond the comic book company itself, and has also drawn in parent company Disney.

Bryan Freedman, who has handled some of Hollywood's biggest wrongful termination cases in recent years, is now representing DeMayo. He issued a scathing statement to Deadline after his client's social media claim that he was stripped of his season 2 credit on X-Men '97 for sharing gay pride-themed fan art was contradicted by Marvel's response that he was let go after a misconduct investigation revealed findings of a "serious nature." As Deadline reported, DeMayo was under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct and it is believed that the revocation of the credit is a result of both parties' violations of their separation agreement.

Freedman did not address the specific allegations, but did criticize Disney's practices, which he repeatedly described as "illegal."
