Since Baldur’s Gate 3 is based on Dungeons and Dragons, many of the concepts and gameplay mechanics can be quite tricky to get used to. This is especially true if you’re new to the series; multiclassing is one such feature, allowing you to level up your current class while also picking a new one. This allows you to create powerful builds like Paladin Warlock and Fighter Ranger, but BG3’s most popular build is the Gloomstalker Assassin. You gain these subclasses whether you’re playing as a Ranger and a Rogue. If it’s a little confusing, don’t worry, it doesn’t matter whether you’re new to the game or on your second or third playthrough, there’s a build here that will work for you.

Character Race: Elf. You can try other races, but for beginners this is the best race to start with, and here are a few reasons why:
Starting Class: Ranger. You can also start as a Rogue if you want extra skills, but to keep this guide beginner-friendly we’re going with Ranger, as it gives you access to Medium Armor for your equip skill.
As a Level 1 Ranger you can choose 1 Favored Enemy and 1 Natural Explorer skill. Depending on the party members you want to add to your team this can change, although it won't make a huge difference, so you can choose any skill you want; for our build we're using:
