The Fallout TV series was confirmed as a new, canonical story set in the post-apocalyptic universe long before it even released. After it went live on April 10, fans were worried that it would wipe out a crucial faction, but thankfully that didn't happen.

House's TV show is perfect Fallout lore

The faction we learn the most about in the Fallout show is the Brotherhood of Steel, as one of the main characters, Maximus, hails from there. At one point in the story, we're also introduced to the New California Republic, which seems to be on the verge of extinction. In the latest interview with IGN, Bethesda CEO Todd Howard explained the fate of the faction. Beware, because more spoilers ahead.

In the show, we are told that the NCR’s first capital, the Shady Sands, is destroyed and there are almost no remnants of the faction until episode eight. There, we learn that Moldaver, who kidnapped Lucy’s father in the first episode, is actually a leader of the NCR in the area. However, Moldaver and the rest of her associates are killed in the finale. This has left fans worried that the show is bringing about the downfall of the NCR, but that’s not how Howard sees it.

“One of the things we always do is we approach things very locally when we do Fallout. […] We always take this view of ‘communication is difficult.’ And look, if you look at the background, the NCR, it’s a wide range of organizations and groups, not just in California but in other places. This show focuses on this time period and this group here, and that’s what we can say now, but I don’t think you’ve heard the last of NCR,” Todd said.
