A trailer for the previously unknown Black Myth: Wukong dropped a little under two weeks ago, and in that time the previously unknown game has become the talk of the town. But what is it? Black Myth Wukong: 10 Things You Need to Know
The trailer gives us a 13-minute taste of official gameplay footage for the mysterious Black Myth: Wukong and appears to show a beautifully designed action-RPG set in ancient China.
It begins with the camera following a bee through a detailed mountainous forest, giving us a brief tour of the terrain and establishing a clear fantasy setting with a pair of anthropomorphic fox warriors. The aerial tour ends abruptly with the bee suddenly transforming into the titular Wukong and jumping straight into a crisp real-time battle. A minute of violent staff-swinging later, we’re introduced to a boss fight that showcases a few combat skills and demonstrates a fluid combat system with a particular emphasis on evasion mechanics.
It only takes a few minutes to see a second transformation, this time as a massive ape hulk who makes short work of an entire group of fox warriors. The second half of the trailer shows an extended, seemingly difficult boss fight that sees Wukong use a Naruto-esque cloning ability in a dire situation, followed by a third transformation into the first boss we saw defeated earlier.
