Bungie has scored another victory against cheat providers in court, with a jury today siding with the Destiny 2 developer against AimJunkies and Phoenix Digital for copyright infringement. The court also dismissed AimJunkies’ counterclaim that Bungie illegally accessed computers, and ordered key players to pay more than $60,000 USD in damages.

The ruling, which was first reported by Game File's Stephen Totilo, saw a jury side with a developer against cheat makers in the landmark case filed more than three years ago. Phoenix Digital, owner of AimJunkies, was ordered on May 24 to pay $63,210 in damages. That may seem like a small amount considering Bungie had previously won more than $4 million from the same company, but this verdict focused solely on the revenue AimJunkies generated from cheat sales.

The case, which began in 2021, is still ongoing. The above ruling is just one part of a broader lawsuit Bungie filed against Phoenix Digital, which allegedly created and distributed cheats for Destiny 2. It also concludes a countersuit filed on behalf of Phoenix Digital, which alleged that Bungie illegally accessed the company’s computers and infringed on its copyright. It also confirmed that Phoenix Digital and AimJunkies did indeed infringe on Bungie’s copyrighted material with their cheat software.

This isn't Bungie's first or only legal prosecution of cheat developers. Against Lavicheats and Elite Boss Tech, the Sony developer won multiple victories respectively, recovering tens of millions in damages in multiple lawsuits. It also sued the developers of the so-called "Ring-1 cheat." That case is still pending, with Bungie seeking damages and the complete destruction of all software related to the Ring-1 cheat.
