California Dept. Of Public Health Investigates Illness Outbreak Among Music Festival Attendees

More than 20,000 attendees of the Lightning in a Bottle music festival in California may have been exposed to a dangerous fungal disease.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is investigating five cases of Valley Fever in people who traveled through Kern County to attend the May 22-27 event at Buena Vista Lake, near the city of Bakersfield.

So far, three people have been hospitalized, but there may be more cases linked to attendance at the festival, authorities told Fox Weather, the network that first reported the story.
