By absorbing spirits, Wukong can improve his abilities, unlock new skills, and fuel his transformations. There is one important caveat, however: absorbing spirits requires guidance, and this is closely tied to the game’s story and spiritual themes. The reason you’re seeing this message is that you need to meet an old master before you’ll be able to absorb spirits.
This old master can be found in Chapter 1. Go to Bamboo Grove and interact with the Snake Trail Keeper's Shrine. After defeating the Yaoguai King: Lingxuzi, climb the rocky steps next to this location and go to the right.
