The ongoing wuxia Chinese drama Dashing Youth, starring Neo Hou and He Yu, released its first batch of episodes on July 19, 2024. As seen in the official trailer, the drama tells the heroic story of a group of young men fighting to prove their worth. Episode one focuses on the introduction of the character Baili Dongjun (Neo Hou).

In this episode, Beili's history is revealed. The narrator reveals that the story takes place in the fifteenth year of the Taihe era. About fifteen years ago, Beili conquered Beique and Western Chu and brought them under his rule. While the remnants of Beique moved north to rebuild their land, Western Chu became part of Beili.

Two of the noble families came to power: the Yan family of Xinan Circuit and the Gu family. After the death of the head of the Gu family, the Yan family wanted to establish a marriage alliance with Gu Jianmen, the second young master of the family.

Gu Jianmen stands quietly in his palace as he receives instructions from the Fifth Master, who orders him not to go against the Yan family.
