Mobile controllers for your smartphone or other devices are indispensable if you want to play games that require fast response times and tactile buttons.

But which one should you buy? Truth be told, they all have great features, but everyone’s mobile device and gaming preferences are different. We’ve taken three of the best mobile gaming controllers (Razer’s Kishi V2, the Backbone One, and Gamesir’s G8+) and put them to the test to illustrate what each one is good at and what gaming situations they work best in.

All three devices let you plug in a smartphone, which you can connect via USB-C or Bluetooth. They each have their own game launcher app, so you can find all your games in one place. The Kishi and Backbone offer passthrough charging, while the G8+ simply charges the device itself, since it’s a Bluetooth controller.

Each device can be opened to fit a variety of phone and tablet sizes, but the Kishi promises the ability to fit an iPad mini up to 8 inches. I was able to slide it open to fit my Lenovo Nook tablet, which is a large 9-inch tablet. They all come with spacers and inserts that you can use to get the best fit for your specific device.
