14 Arrests in Sex Trafficking Case at San Diego Comic-Con

An investigation into a sex trafficking ring at this year's San Diego Comic-Con has resulted in 14 arrests and 10 victims "recovered," California's attorney general said Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, sex traffickers take advantage of large-scale events like Comic-Con to exploit their victims for profit," Rob Bonta said when he announced the bust at the recent convention. In addition to the arrest of more than a dozen alleged sex buyers, the 10 victims included a 16-year-old who was "rescued" by police.

"These arrests send a clear message to potential offenders that their criminal behavior will not be tolerated," the California Attorney General said of the July 25-27 sting. "We are grateful to all of our dedicated partners involved in the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force, whose collaboration has been invaluable. We are very proud of our office's dedication to helping vulnerable Californians by providing them with help and guidance when they need it most."
