In the proposed Pregnant Women's Welfare Act (House Bill 8471), Rep. Ma. Alana Samantha Taliño-Santos of Cotabato said it is common in the country for pregnant and newly delivered mothers to continue working outside the home.

“This bill aims to establish comprehensive provisions for flexible work arrangements specifically tailored to the needs of pregnant women and postpartum mothers…. These arrangements will provide pregnant workers with the flexibility to adjust their time-in and time-out schedules at the workplace, or even work remotely from home, within the framework of relevant and mutually agreed upon guidelines,” Santos said in the explanatory memorandum to HB 8471

Under the bill, the flexible work arrangement and/or work-from-home program for pregnant women will be extended to postpartum mothers, for at least one year from the date of delivery.
