In fact, that was a separate incident, with Paramount notifying customers in August that hackers had gained access to consumers' personal data between May and June 2023.
Paramount wasn’t the only entertainment giant to come under attack last year. Just a week before the December announcement, Comcast disclosed a security breach that occurred in October, in which hackers stole personal data from more than 35 million Xfinity customers.
The list goes on: Lionsgate’s streaming platform quietly leaked user data for more than a year. Sony’s gaming division notified some 6,800 current and former employees that their data may have been exposed in a hack. Dish Network reported a ransomware attack that ultimately affected nearly 300,000 people. Ubisoft reportedly gave an “unknown threat actor” access to the company’s channels.
