The previously announced 2v8 mode in Dead by Daylight has finally seen the light of day, with a new reveal trailer showing off the utter chaos caused by double killer trouble. The trailer also hinted that more information would be revealed tomorrow, July 16th.

The trailer shows The Wraith and The Trapper taking on eight survivors who are desperately trying to repair all the generators in time and escape with their lives. It only lasts a minute and doesn’t give us much of the complexity that Behaviour Interactive has designed for the mode, though we do get a glimpse of the action. Eight survivors are no mean feat, even for two experienced Killers, so it probably won’t be too easy for them.

The Dead by Daylight 2v8 mode was announced two months ago in May and will be a bit different than your average DBD experience. Survivors will not have any powerful perks. Instead, they will be sorted into classes or roles with certain specializations. Killers will also function differently. There will only be five free killers available to play as and they will also be able to share their powers with each other under the right circumstances.

This marks the first time that Dead by Daylight has deviated from the "one Killer, four Survivors" formula. DBD fans have long been yearning for a ready-made version with another Killer, and the 2v8 mode might just be the way to go. Balancing for two Killers likely wasn't an easy task for the developers at Behaviour, and we'll have to wait until launch to see how effective their design choices are. The mode's release date is July 25th and it'll only be around for a limited time. Hopefully, the mode will attract a large enough player base to become a permanent option.
