Japanese publisher Capcom announced Monday that a new remaster of the 2006 zombie action classic “Dead Rising” will release on current-gen consoles on September 19.

It comes as no surprise to Capcom that they re-release their games multiple times.

Capcom’s biggest franchise, with over 150 million copies sold, remains “Resident Evil,” which also focuses heavily on the zombie subgenre of horror and has had multiple releases that are considered foundational to modern gaming. After a few new installments were poorly received, Capcom rebooted the series with 2017’s “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard,” which switched the player perspective from third-person to first-person.

But it was the 2019 remake of 1998’s “Resident Evil 2” that rekindled fans, as the classic game was completely rebuilt to fit in with more modern entries in the series, focusing on over-the-shoulder movements instead of fixed camera angles. This remake helped bridge the gap between “Biohazard” and the new 2021 main game, “Village.”
