Destiny 2's The Final Shape expansion introduced a ton of new mechanics, content, and places to explore for Guardians to sink their teeth into. Yet even some of the best systems introduced have been criticized for certain negative interactions. Today, we're taking a look at the Pathfinder system and why the community is irked by one particular design flaw.

10 Destiny 2 Settings You Should Disable Right Now

Reddit user Secht02 took to the Destiny subreddit to voice his annoyances with the current Pathfinder system. They describe a specific instance that recently occurred because it prompted Guardians to “defeat multiple Cabal warriors.” While they were performing strikes to kill time, they realized that many of their teammates were immediately leaving the group because the current instance didn’t contain the Cabal. Out of 26 Guardians, they reported that three didn’t leave the group when they realized there was no Cabal to defeat. As a result, players have to deal with subpar matchmaking, longer queue times, and generally little enjoyment from party members constantly leaving.

Commenters on the thread were quick to agree with Secht02's take on the Pathfinder system, despite believing it to be a positive change for the game as a whole. It has its issues, but the system's foundation and potential are undeniable, though whether Bungie capitalizes on it remains to be seen.

Others aren’t so happy with the Pathfinder system, finding it clunky, hard to access, and nearly impossible to complete under certain circumstances. There’s a lot of talk about the Crucible in the thread, with players begging for the challenges to be reworked and made easier to achieve during PvP.
