If you or your child are glued to your phone, it’s not good for your eyes. That’s why Apple rolled out Screen Distance with the latest iOS update. The feature uses your iPhone’s TrueDepth camera to detect when you’re holding your iPhone or iPad closer than 12 inches (30 cm) and alerts you.

How to Fix iPhone Too Close on iOS 17 (Screen Distance Settings)

This feature is automatically turned on for children under 13 in a family group. In this guide, I'll show you how to turn off screen spacing on your iPhone.

When this feature is enabled, it uses the depth camera to measure the distance between your face and iPhone. If your iPhone is closer than 30cm, it will send you an alert saying “iPhone is too close”.

When you get a notification, just move your phone away from your face. You will see a "Continue" button on the screen. Click this button to go back to your previous screen.
