The winners of IEM Katowice and the first CS2 Major battled it out for all the marbles in the grand final of the BLAST Premier Spring Finals in an important match. It was the first time that the tournament had a best-of-five format for the deciding match.
NAVI defeated FaZe and Astralis in the group stage to earn a direct shot at the semi-finals, where they defeated Virtus.pro and qualified for the grand finals. Team Spirit also had a similarly easy way to win the match, defeating G2 and VP to win their group and defeating Team Vitality in the other semi-final, making for a tasty clash.
NAVI IGL Aleksib has a stellar record in best-of-five grand finals in Counter-Strike as a leader of top teams, having not won a single map in his last five separate attempts across multiple organizations and roster iterations. However, with a Major win under his belt, the Finn has seemingly answered a lot of questions – many of which will undoubtedly now return after another easy and devastating defeat.
