Since 2012, “The Eric Andre Show” has best been described as a cacophony of chaos. Each 11-minute episode is a wild twist on the traditional late-night format, hosted by a terrifyingly amped-up version of comedian Eric Andre. It always starts with him trashing his set in increasingly ridiculous ways, only to have it quickly replaced while he gasps for air as the eccentric studio band plays something disturbing.

When celebrities drop in, they’re faced with a litany of challenging situations, like having worms thrown at them, sky-high studio temperatures, Andre’s outfit getting ripped off, or snakes crawling out of the coffee cup on his desk. Nonprofessional actors wander in and out of segments, sometimes nailing their lines and sometimes botching them, making the whole thing feel like a hyperactive David Lynch movie.

If the nightmarish talk show-collaboration-with-“Pee-wee's Playhouse” premise doesn't sound like the kind of show that would nab two Emmy nominations, André would be the first to agree.

"I felt completely out of the loop," says Andre, also an executive producer on the show. "I didn't even feel like I was on the map or in the conversation, so to get those two nominations is mind-boggling to me. I'm so happy, you know. After a little over a decade, we got that recognition, and I'm grateful for it."
