Facebook and EssilorLuxottica (Ray-Ban) have unveiled and launched new Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses, available now starting at $299.

Facebook's Ray-Ban Stories Smart Glasses: Cool or Creepy?

According to the official announcement, Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses are designed to make everyday (but important) smartphone tasks easier. Making phone calls, taking photos, recording videos and listening to music can all be handled through what look like regular sunglasses. Ray-Ban Stories can also be paired with the Facebook View iOS or Android app to make sharing content easier.

Ray-Ban Stories boasts a pair of 5MP cameras that can be used to take photos or record up to 30 seconds of video when you press the capture button. Or, if you use Facebook Assistant, you can go hands-free with voice commands instead.

There are open-ear speakers built into the temples and a three-microphone array for clearer sounds in videos and phone calls. Facebook also claims that it uses "beamforming technology and a background noise suppression algorithm" to further improve call quality.
