The newly established League of Legends Hall of Legends has welcomed four-time world champion Faker as its first newcomer, which comes as no surprise, Riot Games announced today.

Recognized for his mastery of the game, his many contributions to Riot esports, and for inspiring millions of people worldwide, the choice for the first League inductee would be none other than the Unkillable Demon King.

The Hall of Legends is Riot’s newly created institution to honor the most exceptional players in League history. First introduced in Riot’s 2024 State of the Game update, the Hall of Legends serves to honor those players and coaches who have contributed significantly to the growth and evolution of esports. And while many speculated as to who would be the first, it wasn’t until today that everyone’s predictions became reality when Riot bestowed the honor on the legendary Korean mid laner.

Faker’s selection into the Hall of Legends was the culmination of a rigorous process in which a panel of judges representing regional leagues and global esports communities evaluated a list of inductees. Working with Riot staff in League’s competitive regions, the panel ultimately identified 20 nominees. Riot then presented this list, along with the selection criteria, to 50 global panelists covering each competitive region, who then voted on the final inductees. Of course, the league was crushed under the weight of Faker’s accomplishments both in and out of the game.
