Fans of The First Descendant were already skeptical about the game's monetization, and the new premium currency prices don't make things any better.

The First Descendant FINALLY someone is listening! New 1.0. 7 Patch is awesome!

The prices of Caliber, the premium currency in The First Descendant, were revealed on June 26 via SteamDB, and players on Reddit have begun entering cash prices for items in the game’s store based on their Caliber price in the latest tech test. While most of the prices are in line with what you’ll see in other games (e.g. Battle Pass for around $10), there are a few items with questionable prices.

Energy Activator in particular caught the attention of players. It is an item that you can use to increase the module capacity of your Descendant or weapon, allowing you to make them more powerful. The Energy Activator costs $24 in Caliber and according to players, you need one per character/weapon. Of course, if you want to play with multiple Descendants, you will need more Energy Activators.

“There’s no reason to pay for mod capacity like this. What’s worse is that players buy their favorite characters without realizing they need 1 for each of them,” one fan wrote. Others pointed out that you could farm the items for free in unlimited amounts in playtests, but the drop rates were incredibly low. This means you’ll have to invest a lot of time or money to get your loadout to the top of the meta, especially if you decide to buy an Ultimate Descendant, which can set you back as much as $60.
