In the first elimination round at VALORANT Champions 2024, Fnatic took down G2 Esports with a 2-0 victory. In addition to their skill and talent, Fnatic also showed a bit of luck in the final round of the match.
The match against G2 Esports began on Fnatic’s map pic, Haven, where the EMEA first seed won with a commanding 13-3 score. Alfajer was the star of the show, scoring 24 kills in just 16 rounds, leaving G2 little chance of fighting back. But it’s not a G2 vs FNC match in any esport unless there’s a bit of a rollercoaster going on, and that proved to be true in VALORANT as G2 found their feet on map two and struck back.
After being outclassed on Haven, G2 pushed hard on their own map selection, setting Fnatic up for a thrilling race to victory on Bind. While Fnatic took an early 8-4 lead, G2 refused to go down quietly and, breaking Fnatic’s economy, tied the game at 8-8. Fans were hoping the match would reach map three, with both teams trading turns and the tension building with every play.
