Senator Robin Padilla on Wednesday (August 7) asked the Supreme Court (SC) to set oral arguments for his petition seeking to determine how the Senate and House of Representatives should vote on constitutional amendments.

“In order to clarify the matters in the petition and to emphasize certain legal points, the petitioner respectfully requests this Honorable Court to set the case for oral arguments at a time and date most convenient to the Honorable Court,” the petitioner said in his motion requesting the setting of oral arguments.
On August 5, Padilla filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to resolve issues regarding how both houses of Congress should vote on amendments to the Constitution.
Padilla regretted that he could not exercise his duties as chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Code Revision due to the ambiguity of these provisions.
