When you’re working with a large spreadsheet, it can be helpful to keep specific rows or columns in view at all times. Maybe you want column headers to appear as you scroll down the page, or maybe you want to compare two rows of data that are far apart. Here’s how to freeze and unfreeze rows and columns in Google Sheets using a web browser and the mobile app.

How To: Freeze Rows or Columns in Google Spreadsheets

In this example, we freeze the first row to demonstrate how it works when you scroll away from the first row.

Select the row you want to freeze.

Select View > Freeze.
