Samsung is introducing a new battery protection feature for the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 to prevent overcharging.

The new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 pack a slew of new changes and features, as well as the latest version of Samsung’s One UI launcher. Chief among these features is the Protect Battery option, which SamMobile claims will limit the phone’s battery from charging to 85% every time it’s plugged in.
The Protect Battery feature is designed to do just that: protect the battery. By only charging it to 85%, the battery will ultimately last longer, because battery life deteriorates with each full charge cycle: the battery is charged to 100% of its total capacity.
By limiting the amount of charge the battery can receive per period, Samsung ultimately gives users the ability to get more out of their batteries.
