The El Niño phenomenon may have brought drought to several parts of the country this year, but for a well-known lawmaker (WL), it was synonymous with a period of declining profits.

Two of WL's companies reportedly made record profits as a result of the unbearable heat that worsened the dry spell from March to early June this year.
One of WL's moneymakers was the ice factory he owns on his estate. Sales reportedly surged during El Niño, as commercial customers—from restaurants to convenience stores and even fishermen from nearby provinces—increased their ice orders to cope with the heat. Workers at WL's ice factory reportedly had to work twice as hard to meet the high demand for ice.
In addition to the ice cream factory, WL would also own a resort in a picturesque location. The establishment would be fully booked from March to May as many people were desperately seeking an escape from the scorching heat in Metro Manila and other urban areas.
