Thanks to a new 1.5 Flash upgrade, Google’s Gemini AI can now provide smarter responses and do so faster than before. The upgrade applies to the free version of Gemini, making it accessible and ready to test for everyone.
First Impressions of Gemini Flash 1.5 – The Fastest 1 Million Token Model
Google notes in its blog post: "With Gemini 1.5 Flash, you'll notice improvements in quality and latency across the board, with especially noticeable improvements in reasoning and image understanding."
The upgrade also brings a larger context window, or how much text Gemini can process at once. With 32K tokens available for the free tier, users now have four times as many tokens compared to Gemini 1.0 Pro.
Previously this was only reserved for Gemini Advanced users. Another Gemini Advanced feature that will be available to free users is the ability to upload files via Google Drive or from your device's storage.
