In December, Google announced a new large language model called Gemini. Now, Gemini is taking over all of Google’s AI offerings.

The move follows a similar announcement from Microsoft on Wednesday. Google shared the change on The Keyword on Thursday. It’s a basic rebranding of all the Google AI you already use, from Google Bard, its AI chatbot, to Gmail and Google Docs’ “help me write” feature. The changes also include a slew of new products, including Gemini Advanced, a Google One AI Premium subscription, Gemini for Workspace and a Gemini app for Android phones.
The most noticeable change will be in how you see the products and services you already use. Google Bard is now Gemini, so when you try to use Bard, you’ll find Gemini instead. You’ll also see these changes in Gmail and Google Docs’ Help me write feature, though slightly less noticeably. The Help me write boxes are now the blue gradient used in the Gemini logo.
Gemini's premium feature, Gemini Advanced, builds on the Google One service and is now called the Google One AI Premium Plan. It uses Gemini Ultra 1.0, a massive multitask language understanding (MMLU) model that is "the first to outperform human experts," wrote Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and "uses a combination of 57 subjects, including math, science, history, law, medicine, and ethics, to test knowledge and problem-solving skills."
