Guild Wars 2's next expansion builds on the events of Secrets of the Obscure and adds several new features and areas to explore.

Janthir Wilds, announced on June 4, is the next expansion for Guild Wars 2 and is scheduled for release on August 20. The expansion introduces a housing system called Homesteads, the new region Isle of Janthir, and several minor additions to the game.
Developer ArenaNet describes Homesteads as the "most player-friendly housing system in an MMORPG." The system features a new customization and decoration interface, allowing you to create a perfect home to invite friends and guild mates into.
In Janthir Wilds, the game takes you to the ancient region of Janthir, which will have two maps at launch, Lowland Shore and Janthir Syntri. The story of the expansion continues where Secrets of the Obscure left off. Together with Astral Ward and a council of nations from the area of Tyria, you travel to Janthir to discover the ancient magical threat.
