In the finals of the tournament, the Ring General faced Randy Orton and defeated him to win the tournament. Despite Orton's one shoulder being raised during the match, Gunther was crowned the winner.

The win resulted in Gunther earning a title shot against Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. Gunther won the match after Finn Balor betrayed his Judgment Day teammate, distracting Priest and allowing Gunther to take advantage and secure the victory. However, Randy Orton interrupted Gunther's title celebration by mentioning his victory in the King of the Ring finals. This led to Orton challenging him to a title shot, which Gunther accepted. Their match is scheduled for Bash in Berlin on August 31 in Germany.

The last edition of WWE Raw featured another confrontation, where Randy Orton gave him an RKO. The Ring General was unhappy with the attack and was seen angry backstage at WWE Raw. Now, the Ring General has issued a warning to The Viper following their encounter.
