The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the dismissal of suspended Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo Bamban over her alleged involvement in illegal Philippine offshore gambling (POGO) activities.
Mayor Alice Guo asks Ombudsman to lift her suspension
In a 25-page ruling, Ombudsman Samuel Martires found Guo guilty of serious misconduct and ordered the forfeiture of all her pension rights. She is also permanently disqualified from holding public office.
The Ombudsman said the “series of acts” Guo committed in connection with the operation of POGO hubs in Bamban showed “deliberate intent on her part to violate the law or disregard established regulations.”
One of the actions flagged by the Ombudsman was Guo's instruction to the local council to pass a letter of no objection in favour of Zun Yuan Technology, formerly known as Hongsheng.
