Nothing Phone (2a) review – Did They Lie?
I carry an iPhone 12 Pro Max for my day-to-day work, but like many techies, I sometimes wonder what it’s like on the other side. The chance to try out the new Nothing Phone (2) over a long weekend got me excited. Here’s what I found out.
First off, the Nothing Phone 2 is visually stunning. The see-through back shows off the cool, recently updated Glyph interface and it just looks cool. The lighter gray shapes and, well, fins I guess, don’t seem to serve any functional purpose, but they sure are attractive to look at. I’ve gotten a lot of comments about the light notifications that appear when you place the phone face down on a flat surface. In a noisy bar, this is super handy for keeping an eye on whether or not you have a notification.
The curved glass back is a pleasure to hold and just feels good in my hand, although it does slip a little when sitting on fabric. Otherwise, the Nothing Phone 2 looks a lot like my iPhone: rounded corners, dark gray walls with antenna bands built into them, and a beautiful screen on the front. If it weren’t for the slightly different placement of the buttons on the Nothing Phone (including the lack of a vibrate button like the iPhone), it would fit nicely in my iPhone Pro Max case.
