A month after Helldivers 2's Steam page was decimated with negative reviews ahead of Sony's infamous PSN move, Arrowhead CCO Pilestedt has confirmed that the rumored review bomb cosmetic cape is all set to go live. Interestingly enough, though, the team is still waiting for the perfect time to release it.

On May 11, inspired by players suggesting that the PSN account linking debacle should be immortalized in the game, Pilestedt shared what appeared to be an intriguing teaser of a review bomb cape in a tweet, making fans dreamy for what was to come. The teased cape design featured red vertical lines, hinting at the influx of negative reviews following Sony's announcement. He also acknowledged that a fan-made design for the cape was "pretty cool" in a subsequent tweet.

Well, that all seemed to be a rumor, until now. On June 14, in response to a curious fan’s question, Pilestedt confirmed that the review bomb cape is indeed happening and “was done on their end.” Unfortunately, they still have to “find the right time to release it.” So, true as it is, we still don’t know when we’ll be able to don the cape of honor to celebrate the fandom’s commendable achievement while defending democracy.

Back in May, Sony announced that it would be making PSN accounts mandatory for all Helldivers 2 players with an upcoming update, and the community was baffled. According to Sony’s official statement on Steam, this rule was supposed to be enforced when the game initially launched in February, but was delayed due to technical reasons. But since Sony dumped it on the player base months after release, those who had purchased Helldivers 2 early had no other option but to create a PSN account, or risk losing access to the game.
